Disc Stack Centrifuge
Solids-Retaining Separator
A solids-retaining separator is used for separating liquid mixtures that have only a low amount of solids in them – no more than 1%. This is because the separator must be stopped, the centrifuge bowl dismantled, and the solids removed by hand.
Solids-Ejecting Separator
A solids-ejecting separator is used for liquids with a higher solids content (up to 10%) or when it’s undesirable to stop the centrifuge for cleaning. The solids that collect inside the centrifuge bowl are shot out by periodically uncovering slots in the periphery of the centrifuge bowl for a fraction of a second.
Nozzle Separator
A nozzle separator is used when a process liquid contains over 10% solids. The solids leave the centrifuge bowl in a continuous stream. The nozzles in the nozzle bowl centrifuge constantly eject sludge as it accumulates.

Decanter Centrifuge
A decanter centrifuge is used for dewatering sludge containing up to 60% solids. The decanter centrifuge has a horizontal drum or rotor in which separation takes place in the same way as a vertical separator. The decanter does not have a disc stack; however, the solids are removed continuously from the drum by a screw conveyor.
Pressure Driven Centrifuge
A pressure driven centrifuge (also called a centrifugal oil filter) works as a bypass filter, processing about 10% of the total oil flow. The centrifugal oil filter extracts contaminated particles from your engine’s lubricating oils, reducing wear, and extending the lifetime of that vital component.
The pressure driven centrifuge must be stopped, the centrifuge bowl dismantled, and the sludge is cleaned out of the centrifuge bowl manually from time to time.
