Kidney Loop Filtration Systems

Kidney Loop System

When it comes to filtering contaminants out of hydraulic oil, a kidney loop system with a centrifuge filter is one of the best options. Independent kidney loop systems with centrifuge filter system components include an independent pump/motor, a centrifuge filter, and a control unit. Kidney loop systems can run intermediately or continuously as needed. Centrifuge filters use centrifugal force to remove the smallest micron particles (removing dirt, metal, and solid contaminants) from the hydraulic fluid, ensuring the hydraulic oil stays clean and free of debris.

Keep hydraulic fluid clean with a kideny loop system!

Oil contamination is a major source of component wear and equipment failure. The solution is an offline filtration or independent kidney loop filtering system. Kidney loop systems clean hydraulic fluid and prolong the life of the hydraulic fluid, filters, and equipment.

What makes kidney loop systems with a centrifuge filter better than other filtration systems?

The simple answer is centrifugal force. The centrifuge filter is a spinning device that uses centrifugal force to separate contaminants from the hydraulic oil. The centrifuge filter functions as a clarifying centrifuge — separating the solids from the liquid phase. As the hydraulic fluid flows through the centrifuge filter, it is spun around by the centrifuge filter bowl, which causes the contaminants to be thrown outwards and trapped against the paper insert on the outer centrifuge bowl wall. The contaminants create a sludge cake. During cleaning, the sludge cake (contamination accumulated) is removed by hand, and another paper insert is placed inside the centrifuge bowl. The paper insert is the only consumable during cleaning.

Centrifuge filters can separate much smaller particles and contaminants in a fraction of the time. This makes independent kidney loop systems with centrifuge filters particularly effective at removing small micron size particles and contaminants. Hydraulic systems are generally equipped with system filters. The hydraulic system filters do not remove all the contaminants and dirt generated by the hydraulic system. Other filtration system filters cannot capture these contaminants. Centrifuge filters provide greater contamination control within the hydraulic system.

Add a centrifuge filter to your current Kidney Loop Filtration System

Kidney Loop Filtration Systems

kidney-loop-centrifuge-filterAdding a centrifuge filter to a kidney loop filtration system can be a game changer in keeping the hydraulic fluid clean and free of contaminants. The main reason for adding a centrifuge filter to your current independent kidney loop system is to improve the system’s overall performance. A centrifuge filter can remove small particles and contaminants that other types of system filters might miss. Removing these smaller micron containments helps extend the system’s lifespan and reduce the risk of downtime. It is a great idea to consider a centrifuge filter if you use a type of oil that is prone to contamination, as it can help prevent costly repairs or replacements down the line.

Not all centrifuge filters are created equal. The superior brand on the market is the IOW Group centrifuge filter. The IOW Group centrifuge filter provides the best performance and separation efficiency compared to any other centrifuge filter brand. If you are experiencing issues with your current kidney loop filter or other filtration systems, now is the time to add an IOW Group centrifuge filter. IOW Group centrifuge filters provide high-efficiency filtration and superior contamination control.

If you are experiencing issues with your current kidney loop systems, now is the time to add an IOW Group centrifuge filter.

The IOW Group centrifuge filter can remove up to three times more sludge than any other similar centrifuge filter. With dirt/sludge monitoring (SCU Control Unit), and the additional bowl disc technology, the IOW Group centrifuge filters offer greater filtration and separation efficiency. By removing more contaminants faster, we can extend the life of the oil and primary system filters and increase the life of the system components. Therefore, your return on investment is very fast!

Faster contamination accumulated inside the IOW Group centrifuge filters ensures superior contamination control within the hydraulic system.

The IOW Group centrifuge filter has been designed to simplify upgrading and replacing. IOW Group centrifuge filters utilize the same bolt pattern and footprint to ease retrofitting or new installations. No pipework modifications are required by simply unbolting and bolting on our IOW centrifuge filter.

Features and Advantages of the IOW Group Centrifuge Filters

IOW Group Centrifuge Filter

Bowl Disc Technology – The bowl disc technology significantly improves the efficiency of our centrifuges and allows the collection of a much larger percentage of even the smallest particles. The discs create a larger surface area by splitting the oil into many partial streams, which speeds up the separation process. The IOW Group centrifuge filters are the only centrifuge filters to use bowl disc technology. Usually, this technology is utilized with larger industrial centrifuges.

Remote Monitoring – The IOW Group centrifuge filters are the only centrifuge filter product on the market to provide operators with a choice of remote monitoring to ensure the centrifuge filter is running optimally. This feature saves on unnecessary maintenance costs.

Distributor Impeller – The distributor impeller eliminates back pressure by drawing in the contaminated dirty oil. The dirty oil enters the centrifuge filter at the base of the unit, and once spinning, the dirty oil is drawn into the centrifuge filter by the distributor impeller reducing the risk of back pressure causing cross-contamination. This part is not included in any competitor’s centrifuge filter. It effectively draws the dirty oil into the centrifuge bowl and distributes it directly to the centrifuge bowl wall, where the centrifugal forces are at their highest. This adds to the efficiency, speed, and flow of the oil through the centrifuge.

Fully Sealed Centrifuge Bowl – A fully sealed centrifuge bowl reduces the risk of cross-contamination between the cleaned and dirty oil. There are no leakage areas. Clean and dirty oil cannot meet. By having a very proficiently sealed product, the centrifuge filter bowl will rotate at maximum RPM because it utilizes 100% of the oil pressure and flow to drive the rotations.

Dirt Removal – In independently verified tests, the IOW Group centrifuge filters have proven to remove up to three times more dirt than the existing centrifuge filters under the same time and conditions.

Remote Monitoring Control Panel – SCU

CentriClean-Centrifuge-Filter-Remote-MonitorThe CentriClean SCU Control Panel (SCU) is a remote monitoring device with many functions. This allows much greater control of the cleaning intervals, keeping the centrifuge running for a maximum time. The information displayed on the SCU includes both the centrifuge filter speed and the operating hours. One key benefit of the SCU is that it will inform the operator when:
– The centrifuge filter is full and therefore needs cleaning.
– The centrifuge filter is not running as fast as it should.
– The pre-set operating/service hours have been reached.

The SCU works on a very simple principle when the sensor records a reduction in bowl speed, the control unit alarms. The bowl speed drops when the increased build-up of particulates restricts the oil flow inside the centrifuge bowl, gradually decreasing the centrifuge speed and therefore causing the alarm to activate.

CentriClean SCU 0002 Modbus Remote Monitor

The CentriClean SCU 0002 remote monitor displays the centrifuge filter’s current RPMs and monitors the run hours. When the centrifuge filter speed falls to the alarm level or when the number of run hours is reached, whichever is sooner, it will show an alarm message on the SCU 0002 display. You can indicate the alarm remotely if connected via Modbus.

CentriClean SCU 0003 Bluetooth Remote Monitor

The CentriClean App connects and monitors the SCU 0003 control unit with all IOW MP centrifuge filters. The IOW CentriClean links to the Bluetooth-enabled SCU 0003 control unit, allowing users to connect to multiple IOW MP centrifuge filters. IOW Group has developed an app to give the operator greater functionality, which can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
