The SONDEX freshwater distillers are based on the plate heat exchanger technology in single-stage or multi-stage design. The right choice depends on the type of application, heat source, and operating conditions. The SONDEX fresh water distillers utilize the hot water flow from diesel engine jacket cooling water (or steam as heating sources) to produce pure drinkable water by evaporating seawater under a vacuum enabling the feed water to evaporate at temperatures below 100°C.
The design results in a compact solution with a small footprint, simple installation, and easy access to maintenance. The SONDEX fresh water distillers have connections from sea water in jacket water inlet/outlet on the front of the head and outlet of seawater/brine at the back end of the unit through the ejector outlet and a freshwater outlet.
