Gasket Plate Heat Exchanger Spare Parts
Gasket plate heat exchangers are designed to optimize heat transfer. The corrugated plates provide the greatest surface area through which the heat can be drawn from one gas or liquid to the other. Gasket plate heat exchangers provide efficient heat transfer in compact equipment with a small footprint; much smaller and more efficient than shell-and-tube heat exchangers.

How to prevent clogging of gasket plate heat exchanger?
Avoiding clogging can be done by installing a backflushing system or by using filters.
Backflushing:
Installing a backflushing arrangement in the existing piping can be done relatively easily. Smaller particles will pass through the gasket plate heat exchanger, whereas larger particles will clog in the inlet section of the plate. Backflushing has the effect that major particles are flushed backwards and out of the cooling system.
Filtering:
Filters will act as a supplement to the standard strainers installed on the suction side or the seawater pumps. You can install an automatic filter after the seawater pumps, just before the gasket plate heat exchanger.
Need your gasket plate heat exchanger serviced?
When a gasket plate heat exchanger starts to leak, the gaskets start to get hard or fall off, it is time to think about changing your gaskets. Our supplied heat exchanger gaskets provide an efficient solution and ensure the optimal performance of your gasket plate heat exchangers.
Separator Spares & Equipment provides a range of services for gasketed plate heat exchangers. From preventive maintenance and troubleshooting to upgrades, we have you covered!
Regular maintenance of your gasketed plate heat exchangers will improve performance and reliability. Service kits from Separator Spares & Equipment will make it easier for your scheduled maintenance, saving you time and lower operating costs.
Are your gasket plate heat exchangers losing performance?
Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have a poorly functioning heat exchanger. Separator Spares & Equipment has years of experience servicing these devices and will be happy to provide helpful troubleshooting tips or even parts if necessary. What are the parts of gasketed plate heat exchanger?
In a gasketed plate heat exchanger, the plates are fitted with gaskets that seal the channels and direct the fluids into alternate channels. The plate pack is assembled between a frame plate and a pressure plate, and compressed by tightening bolts fitted between these plates. The channel plates and the pressure plate are suspended from an upper carrying bar and located by a lower guiding bar, both of which are fixed to the support column. The physical design of the gasketed plate heat exchanger allows easy cleaning, and modification of capacity by the addition or removal of plates.

What is the expected lifetime of heat exchanger gasket?
The gaskets in all types of plate heat exchangers lose their elasticity after some years of continuous use. The expected lifetime depends on the operational conditions (temperature, pressure) and how often the units are opened.
For a central cooler, installed on an ocean-going vessel, a lifetime of 8-12 years can be expected. A lubricating oil cooler installed in a central cooling system (freshwater cooled) may also be around 8-10 years.
If the unit is installed in a conventional cooling system, meaning that the plate heat exchanger needs to be opened for cleaning more often, a lifetime of 5-8 years may be expected.
For applications operating with steam (tank cleaning heaters and dumping condensers) lifetime may be from 2-5 years due to the high temperature.
