Concitherm is an efficient plate heat exchanger used as an evaporator. Optimized plate design enables wide flow gaps with few contact points, even with 3 m² plates per laser-welded cassette. Low pressure losses, in the heat exchanger, avoid an intermediate pump, which reduces installation and operational costs. In comparison to conventional tube evaporators, Kelvion Concitherm offers an almost 100% higher heat transfer rate. Concitherm plate evaporators can serve as boosters to conventional evaporators as well as stand-alone applications within the sugar, food, and chemical industries.

The Kelvion Free Flow systems are suitable for products containing solids, crystals, fibers and pulp, as well as highly viscous media. A coarse-waved corrugation, especially developed for these medias, means that the plates are not susceptible to soiling. Wide flow channels with no contact points prevent blockages. For special applications, both wide and narrow flow gaps can be combined in a Kelvion Free Flow system.

Critical media limits the usage of plate heat exchangers fitted with conventional gaskets. Kelvion can offer a technological alternative: the LWC plate heat exchanger made of laser welded cassettes. These cassettes are fitted with gaskets only in the flow opening area. The special gaskets are resistant to most aggressive media. The successful OptiWave design of the NT Series is also used for LWC and guarantees efficient heat transfer.

The Kelvion NA, NC, NG, NQ Series gasketed plate heat exchangers are independently certified as part of the AHRI400 (formerly ARI400) certification program by the Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) and thus feature a performance rating for liquid-to-liquid heat exchangers. The Kelvion NA Series performs well for a broad range of flows and temperatures in HVAC applications. The Kelvion NC Series was specially developed for high-performance district cooling systems requiring minimum temperature differences and maximum pressure-resistance. The Kelvion NG Series is a double-wall plate for applications with high demands concerning safety and regulatory requirements.

With the ND Series, Kelvion created an extremely reliable variant of the conventional gasketed heat exchanger for high demands concerning safety and regulatory requirements. Two especially thin plates, which are welded together at the port hole, create a narrow leakage gap within a double wall. In the event of the rupture of a plate, this clever solution ensures that the intermixture of incompatible media remains excluded and that the rupture is indicated. The compact design and the functionality of the double-wall meets the high standard that is expected.

Wherever high-pressure resistance is required by the applications, the NH Series proves its extreme load capacity. The high-performance plate heat exchanger withstands operating pressures of up to 30 bar. Apart from this, the shaping of plate materials such as titanium or special materials such as SMO 254, Alloy 59, Alloy 686 and C-276 is easily possible. With a plate design adapted to the requirements of oil and gas production, the NH Series provides you with heat exchangers that can best handle pressure.

The Kelvion NL Series has been specially developed for fluids with high viscosity as well as for shear-sensitive media. This not only offers all the advantages of the NT family, such as PosLoc, EcoLoc and the proven OptiWave design but also a clearly deeper corrugation depth.

Kelvion NL 80M

The Kelvion NP Series has been specially developed for the increasing demand for cold supply in high-rise buildings, data centers, and district cooling. The adoption of a plate with narrower plate gap and a smaller pitch ensures highest heat transfer performance. It is the perfect fit for applications with extremely low temperatures differences and high NTU valves. It withstands an extremely high test pressure of up to 42 bar(g).

The Kelvion NT Series (stands for New Technology) sets new economic standards with low investment, operation, and maintenance costs. The optimised OptiWave plate design requires less heat transfer surface for the same performance. The new EcoLoc gaskets and installation methods simplify maintenance and ensure a perfect fit of the gasket and plate packs. A wide range of possible sizes and shapes optimise a design to suit the exact operating requirements. By using special materials, the Kelvion NT Series can be adapted for special process needs.

With the Kelvion NW Series, Kelvion designed a heat exchanger plate that has been specially developed for use with media containing particles and solids. These solids tend to clog plate heat exchangers, thus causing costly downtime, such as can occur in bio-ethanol production, in the pulp and paper industry and in waste-water treatment. The Kelvion NW Series offers a solution to this problem, as thanks to the deeply corrugated plate gap blockages are practically impossible.

The Kelvion NX series represents the latest step forward for clean, low viscosity media, in elevated pressure applications. It delivers temperatures down to 1°F, with fewer plates and a single pass design. It is used primarily in HVAC applications and performs well in other applications, with the same conditions: HVAC, Chemical, Power, Sugar, Renewable Energy, Food.

Whether in heating or cooling of liquids containing particles of up to 2 mm in size, in condensing vapors or in gas cooling and gas dehumidifying in special cases – Kelvion’s Varitherm plate heat exchangers offer a convincing solution with the widest range of possible applications.

In the Kelvion gasketed plate heat exchanger, the corrugated plates are fitted with gaskets that seal the channels and direct the fluids into alternate channels. The plate pack is assembled between a frame plate and a pressure plate and compressed by tightening bolts fitted between these different plates. The channel plates and the pressure plate are suspended from an upper carrying bar and located by a lower guiding bar, both of which are fixed to the support column. The physical design of the Kelvion gasketed plate heat exchanger allows easy in-line cleaning and capacity modification by adding or removing plates.
