Lubrication System
The lubrication system consists of a lubrication oil module with thermostatic valves, a duplex oil filter, a centrifugal filter, and a lubrication oil cooler. The main lubrication pump, which has a regulating valve and a pre-lubrication pump, is also part of the system. The lubrication oil that flows through the engine is based on optimized bearing clearances, ensuring large safety margins.
The lubricating oil filter is of the duplex paper cartridge type with a fineness of 15 microns (15μ). Each oil filter has a safety stainless steel cartridge with a fineness of 60 microns (60μ). The pressure transmitters fitted before and after the oil filter indicate the high pressure drop. When the difference value of the pressure is higher than the setting value, the alarm system is activated. Per the instruction book, the oil filter selection valve uses lubricating oil filters selectively.

Hyundai Himsen 9H21/32 Engine
This power generation plant utilized Hyundai HiMSEN 9H21/32 engines running on heavy fuel oil (HFO). The engine output is 1,800 kilowatts at 900 rpm engine speed. The power generation plant was interested in upgrading its lube oil filtration system. It was then cleaned, and the oil was replaced to accurately evaluate how the higher removal rate affects the oil service interval.
Conclusion: With new oil, the goal was to test whether the 700-hour oil change interval, previously limited by insoluble buildup using the Mann Hummel centrifuge filter, could be extended. With the IOW MP600 centrifuge filter installed, the oil now runs up to 1,500 hours before insoluble levels hit the 1% limit. The TBN levels also stayed within an acceptable range, dropping only 10% from new oil values.
