Announcing an Authorized Distributor Agreement with MME Group

MME Group

MME-Group-Cathodic-ProtectionEffective immediately, Separator Spares & Equipment, LLC will be providing MME Group Impressed Current Systems, MME Antifouling Systems, MME Sacrificial Anodes (Aluminum Anoldes and Zinc Anodes), and MME Harbinger Boarding Equipment.  This strategic alliance will provide MME Group’s customers with a local representative in the United States and Canada.

“We were looking for a selling and servicing partner for our ICAF and ICCP systems, and we found that partner in Separator Spares & Equipment,” said Eric Bouman, Sales Manager at MME Group.  “The driving force behind the agreement is the shared commitment, of both companies, to increase the availability of MME Group products and services to North American customers.”

MME Group is based in the Rotterdam area, in The Netherlands. The company was established in 1963 and has since grown to become one of the most experienced and specialized companies in its field of activity. MME Group serves customers around the globe in industries such as machine-building, oil & gas, offshore renewable energy (wind and tidal), shipping, and shipbuilding.

Corrosion is one of the largest threats to the long-term integrity and profitability of assets. In fact, almost 4% of the total global GDP is lost to corrosion. Ships, offshore rigs, offshore wind turbines, harbors installations, flood gates, and other marine structures need effective protection against corrosion. This should, therefore, be made a priority during the planning, engineering, production, and operation of these assets. Failing to do so, could negatively impact your ROI because of increased maintenance costs. These products and services help manufacturers, owners, and operators safeguard the integrity and profitability of assets and products for the entire lifecycle. In doing so, we contribute to “A Longer Life” for the assets and those involved with them.

Failing to do so could negatively impact your ROI because of increased maintenance costs. Ultimately, even loss of lives, and with it your reputation as an asset manager, are a realistic risk. The MME team has decades of accumulated knowledge and experience in applying sacrificial anodes and impressed current systems to protect marine structures against corrosion. They are continuously enhancing their systems and driving innovation. MME Group has created a new way of operating, monitoring and maintaining these protective systems.

MME Group anodes meet the U.S. Military A18001K specifications. This composition of zinc anodes is the result of more than forty years of studies and experiments conducted by corrosion scientists.

How do sacrificial anodes work?

Marine structures are predominantly made of steel, which makes them highly susceptible to corrosion. Seawater acts as an electrolyte, transferring electrons from the steel structure through oxidation. If not addressed, this gradual material reduction can degrade the structural integrity to the point of failure.

The standard protection method, in addition to coating, is using sacrificial anodes. These are made of a more active or less noble metal (usually zinc or aluminum). The sacrificial anodes are attached to the steel structure, and since they oxidize more easily, they turn the structure itself into a cathode. The electrons leave the structure through the anodes, which slowly dissolve. Applying this physics principle protects the steel structure against corrosion.

All zinc and aluminum anodes in MME’s product range are produced in their wholly owned ISO 9001 certified foundry in Faversham, England (UK). With a distribution center in the Rotterdam (The Netherlands) area, MME Group can supply an extensive range of anodes from stock to almost any location in Europe in a matter of days.
