MMB 304 Centrifuge
High Speed Disc Stack Centrifuge
Separator Spares & Equipment, LLC is an Authorized Distributor for high-speed disc stack centrifuges manufactured by WSK Separators. The MMB 304 Centrifuge is extremely efficient in removing fine solid particles and liquid contaminants from different kinds of mineral oils. We supply a full line of solids-retaining centrifugal separators and recommended centrifuge spare parts.
MMB 304S-11 Solids Retaining Centrifuge
The MMB 304 high speed disc stack centrifuge is designed for purification or clarification of distillates, marine diesel oils, lubricating oils, hydraulic oils, and various mineral oils used on-board marine installations and in industrial applications. The MMB 304 solids retaining centrifuge is specifically designed for cleaning of mineral oils from water and solid particles (sludge).
MMB 304 Centrifuge Design
The MMB 304 separator consists of a frame lower part, intermediate part, frame top part, and frame hood. The separator is driven by an electric motor, friction coupling, flat belt, and vertical drive shaft. The motor drives the friction coupling, which drives the flat belt (belt driven), ensuring a gradual start, preventing overload. The MMB 304 oil separator requires an independent oil feed pump.
The bowl is fixed onto the vertical drive shaft situated in the top part of the frame. The frame hood is easily removed to enable easy of access when cleaning or carrying out maintenance. The separation process takes place in the rotating solids-retaining bowl.
A built-in paring disc pump discharges the cleaned oil. The discharge of clean oil is continuous, while solid particles are collected in the separator and have to be removed manually from the bowl regularly by hand.

It is important to keep your centrifugal separator running at its best in order to maintain optimal performance and efficiency. That’s where regular servicing comes in.
Servicing Alfa Laval MMB 304 centrifuges typically involves the following steps:
- Prepare for the service: This includes gathering all necessary tools and equipment, as well as reviewing the service manual and any relevant safety procedures.
- Shut down the separator: Follow the appropriate shutdown procedures for the separator. This may involve closing valves, disconnecting electrical power, and draining the separator of any remaining liquid or product.
- Inspect the separator: Carefully inspect the separator for any visible damage or wear. Pay particular attention to the gasket, seals, and other parts that are prone to wear and tear.
- Use the correct tools and equipment: Using the wrong tools or equipment can damage the separator or cause injury. Be sure to use the tools and equipment specified in the service manual, and follow all safety precautions when working with them.
- Replace any worn or damaged parts: Use the service manual to identify any parts that need to be replaced and follow the instructions for replacing them. Be sure to use replacement parts supplied by Separator Spares & Equipment whenever possible.
- Clean and reassemble the separator: Thoroughly clean the separator, paying attention to all internal surfaces and components. Once the separator is clean, reassemble it according to the service manual, making sure that all parts are properly aligned and tightened.
- Test the Disc Stack Centrifuge: Follow the appropriate testing procedures to ensure that the separator is operating correctly. This may include conducting a visual inspection, running the separator at various speeds and settings, and testing the separator’s performance using appropriate diagnostic tools.
- Record the service: Document the service in the separator’s maintenance log, including the date of the service, any parts that were replaced, and any other relevant information. This will help you keep track of the separator’s maintenance history and ensure that it is properly maintained over time.
- Follow the manufacturer’s recommended service intervals: Alfa Laval separators typically require servicing at regular intervals to ensure optimal performance. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s recommended service schedule to ensure that your separator is serviced at the appropriate intervals.
- Follow proper safety procedures: Separators can be dangerous to work on, especially if they are not properly shut down and isolated. Be sure to follow all safety procedures specified in the service manual and take the necessary precautions to protect yourself and others while working on the separator.
